DeRobert & The Half-Truths /
Soul in a Digital World
Soul In a Digital World, the debut record from the G.E.D. Soul Records house band is a banger from beginning to end. After a string of successful 7inch releases on the small indie label, the Nashville soul group DeRobert & The Half- Truths make their first offering in the long player format with an album that is at once powerful, raw, and at times even soulfully sweet. Taking full advantage of DeRobert’s dynamic vocals, the band is given a chance to showcase heavy hitting songs like “Too Short” which kicks the album off. Meanwhile tracks like “I Swear I’m Not a Fool” show the more mellow and contemplative side of the band. Even songs like the aptly titled “The Joy” elicit feelings of elation as DeRobert and his crew wind their way through some truly tasty and soulful hooks.
